  Large cruise ships are known as "the jewel in the crown of the shipbuilding industry" together with aircraft carriers and liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships.

As one of the most difficult ship types to design and build, large cruise ships have far more parts than super-high railways, large aircraft and other major projects. The construction volume is huge, the construction period is long, and the process requirements are high. It is the only high-tech and high-addition that China has not conquered at present. value ship products.

  The second domestic large cruise ship started construction today has carried out a series of optimizations on the basis of the first domestic large cruise ship of the same type (hereinafter referred to as the first ship).

The ship has a gross tonnage of about 142,000 tons, a total length of 341 meters, a width of 37.2 meters, a design draft of 8.17 meters, a maximum draft of 8.4 meters, a maximum speed of 22.7 knots, and 2,144 guest rooms.

Compared with the first ship, the total tonnage of the second large cruise ship has increased by 6,700 tons, the total length has increased by 14.4 meters, and the number of guest rooms has increased by 19.

"The second domestic large cruise ship is not simply a copy of the first ship, but has improved in terms of safety and comfort," said Zhou Qi, deputy general manager of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and H1509 project manager.

  At the same time, in order to meet the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III Standard & Ship Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase II requirements, the second domestic large cruise ship has newly added two sets of desulfurization towers and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems. It will also make it a greener "mobile sea city" in the future.

  It is worth mentioning that, compared with the first ship, the second domestic large cruise ship has also made some changes in appearance, and the shape of the chimney at the top has been changed from "ball head" to "big back head".

At the same time, the second large cruise ship is also equipped with a huge superstructure living and entertainment area of ​​up to 16 floors, with a large performing arts center, large restaurants, specialty restaurants, bars, cafes, shopping plazas, art corridors, children's centers, SPA, water Rich leisure and entertainment facilities such as parks can meet passengers' richer life and entertainment needs.

  Fully promoting the design and construction of large cruise ships is a landmark project for the transformation and upgrading of China's shipbuilding industry and the enhancement of the global influence of Chinese manufacturing.

It is understood that in November 2018, my country's first shipbuilding contract was officially signed.

At present, the construction of the first ship has fully entered the "deep water area" where the key interiors and systems are completed and commissioned, and the progress of the project is orderly and controllable.

Under the overall command of China Shipbuilding Corporation and the strong support of project partners Carnival Group and Fincantieri Group, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has successively carried out special research on cruise ship design, construction and project management through introduction and digestion and independent innovation. A series of scientific and technological innovation achievements have been made, which laid the foundation for the construction of the second domestic large cruise ship.

  Affected by the epidemic, the design and construction period of the second domestic large cruise ship was shortened by a full 6 months compared with the first ship, and the new changes in ship type and configuration also required Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding to design for safe return to port, weight control, and fire prevention. Design, etc. for re-development demonstration.

  At present, about 40% of the detailed design of the second domestic large cruise ship has been completed, and the balance of production design models and the issuance of structural production design drawings have been fully launched.

In terms of construction, production preparations are being continuously strengthened in terms of process innovation, equipment debugging and talent team building.
