On August 15, local time, in response to the one-year anniversary of the U.S. military’s hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan, Zhang Jun, China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, said that the most important thing now is that Afghanistan is back in the hands of the Afghans.

At present, Afghanistan's national reconstruction has made some progress and obtained a relatively stable situation.

Zhang Jun emphasized that countries evacuated from Afghanistan should be responsible to the Afghan people, continue to fulfill their commitments, provide assistance to the Afghan government and people, and learn a lesson from it.

He said there was no reason for anyone to continue freezing the assets of the Afghan people.

He hoped that all parties will thaw the frozen Afghan assets as soon as possible, and said that this is not only the appeal of the Afghan government and people, but also the appeal of the international community.
