After a slump due to Covid-19, the number of marriages is on the rise again.

Around 250,000 ceremonies should be organized in 2022, compared to just over 150,000 in 2020, and 230,000 for a normal year.

Figures that mean that professionals in the sector are now overwhelmed.

Alexandra and Jeffhé have finally said yes after more than a year of waiting.

Their ceremony had been canceled due to health restrictions.

"We had to quickly reposition ourselves in the calendar since we were not the only ones to be victims of the postponements and so today we managed to shift this event to do it on July 30, 2022", she explains. at the microphone of Europe 1.

Fewer event professionals

But for some couples, it is difficult to find a place of reception or a caterer.

"The Covid has also reduced the number of professionals working in this event environment. A lot have closed their doors and others have recycled themselves in other activities", deciphers Stéphane Seban, organizer of the Wedding Fair.

300,000 weddings organized in 2023?

For those who have persevered, the wheel is turning.

Stefania Magro has already organized 27 weddings between mid-May and the end of July.

This is more than double compared to last year.

And that's just the beginning.

"The month of June 2023 we have closed it for sale, since we no longer have any weekends. But also on weekdays we have a huge number of requests, very few are postponements, everything else being new files. So there's really a marriage craze again," she said.

300,000 marriages could be organized in 2023, a level not reached since the year 2000.
