Israeli security forces are chasing the perpetrator of the attack that targeted a bus carrying settlers and pedestrians at dawn today, Sunday, near the Mughrabi Gate in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, injuring 7 people, including critical cases.

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said on Twitter that the security services are chasing the shooter in Jerusalem and will not stop until they arrest him.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said on his Twitter account that the Jerusalem operation is dangerous, and the security forces are cooperating to arrest the perpetrator or whoever provided him with assistance.

And Israeli media reported that the attacker surrendered, while the Israeli Army Radio said that it was not certain that the person who surrendered to the security forces was the perpetrator of the Jerusalem attack.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that the shooting operation in Jerusalem was carried out by a single person who fired 10 bullets at a bus and two vehicles in about 15 seconds and ran away.

Al-Jazeera correspondent Guevara Al-Budairi quoted eyewitnesses as saying that a gunman opened fire on bus No. 3, which was transporting Jews from the Al-Buraq Wall area in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem to the "buildings of the nation" in West Jerusalem.

And Israeli Channel 12 reported that the shooter in the Old City targeted a bus, a car and pedestrians.

The Israeli ambulance said that two of the injured were seriously injured, while the injuries of the rest were described as moderate and light.

And Israeli media reported that large security forces were conducting extensive combing operations in the Silwan neighborhood, south of the Old City of Jerusalem, in search of the shooter.

The occupation forces arrested a number of residents of the town, while preventing the press crews from entering it.

For their part, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Islamic Jihad Movement said that they bless the shooting operation in Jerusalem, and considered it an affirmation of the continuation of the resistance to the occupation.

The Jerusalem attack came shortly after the occupation forces launched attacks on the city of Hebron in the West Bank. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that they left 4 martyrs. These attacks coincided with the assassination of the commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades of Fatah movement, Ibrahim Nabulsi, and two of his companions in the city of Nablus.

The attack also comes 10 days after Israel launched a military operation on the Gaza Strip, which left dozens of Palestinians dead and wounded.
