On Sunday, five people, led by Democratic Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts, traveled to Taiwan.
The visit lasts on Sunday and Monday during a partial stop during a trip to Asia that the delegation is carrying out.
Meetings with several Taiwanese leaders are part of the visit, where they will discuss US-Taiwan relations, regional security, trade, investment and other issues.
The visit comes 12 days after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited the country - angering the Chinese regime, which responded by sending missiles, warships and fighter jets into the sea and air around Taiwan.
