The fiddler's meeting has been going on since the 1970s and has become a tradition for the Fagersta fiddler's team.

But since three years ago, the focus has shifted from the stage to spontaneous game meetings in various places among the cottages on the homestead.

It is called bush game voice.

- Buskspelstamma is the predecessor of spelmansstamma.

It was in a simpler way without a program, where you met on someone's farm or in some forest grove to play together, says Margaretha Eriksson, violinist in Fagersta spelmanslag.

Spontaneous participants

Which fiddlers would come was unclear as no one had to announce their participation, but an invitation had been made in a newspaper aimed at fiddlers.

Only three songs had been predetermined to be performed on stage during the opening of the meeting.

- We have selected three songs that we think most people know, including Fagersta shottis, says Margaretha Eriksson.

Don't want to go home

After that, the players were free to play with whoever they wanted.

The event lasted until 5pm on Sunday, but the participants rarely want to go home, explained Margaretha Eriksson.

- They can stay for a long time to have coffee together and teach each other new songs.

Often the visitors want to wish for songs as well, she says.

The bush game meeting is a recurring event that will continue to take place on the second Sunday in August.
