Security sources warn against entering Lebanese prisons in “total darkness”

Sources in the Lebanese Ministry of Interior confirmed that fuel has run out from the directorates of the Internal Security Forces and the prisons, pointing out that the Ministry of Interior and the Director General of Internal Security, Major General Imad Othman, worked over the past few days to secure the material.

The sources said, in a statement to "Al-Jadeed" channel, which was published on its website today, Saturday, that Major General Othman managed to "shahada" the material from his acquaintances to secure it to prisons, noting that the available quantity meets the needs of prisons and ministry directorates, "for you a day" before entering the total darkness.

The sources attributed the fuel crisis experienced by the Internal Security Forces to "devils" practiced by the Ministry of Energy, likely to be "political goals", considering it an attempt to "strangle the internal security forces."

The sources indicated that Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi and Prime Minister Najib Mikati contacted Energy Minister Walid Fayyad to secure the material, but to no avail so far.

The Iraqi government decided the day before yesterday, Thursday, to approve the extension of the bilateral agreement to supply Lebanon with fuel in order to meet its needs in the next stage.

It is noteworthy that Lebanon has been witnessing a severe shortage of electrical energy for months, as the hours of feeding the electrical energy provided by the Electricity of Lebanon Corporation do not exceed two hours per day.
