The battle outside the Visby ring wall on 27 July 1361 is well known.

The Danish forces almost slaughtered the Gotland peasant army before taking Visby.

Close to reality

But a few days earlier, during the Danes' way towards Visby from the landing on southern Gotland, there was also a big battle in Mästerby on the middle island.

On Thursday, the battle was recreated on a smaller scale.

- If we leave the volume aside, we can get relatively close (the reality ed. note) because of the archaeological excavations.

We know, for example, which weapons were used, we have found them, says Dick Harrison, professor of history at Lund University who was also a lecturer on Thursday.
