Despite China, the United States continues to affirm its support for Taiwan.

On Friday, Kurt Campbell, the White House's Asia-Pacific coordinator, said the Biden administration "will continue to strengthen (its) ties with Taiwan, including continuing to advance our economic and trade relationship."

He announced that an “ambitious roadmap” on these issues will be unveiled “in the coming days”.

The latter also assured that the American forces would “continue to fly, sail or operate wherever international law authorizes it”.

"This includes conventional air and sea crossings through the Taiwan Strait in the coming weeks," he said.
