Inflation in Sweden has reached record highs in recent months, but now it seems to be reversing.

The rate of inflation according to the consumer price index, i.e. the change from the same month last year, landed in July at 8, according to Statistics Norway's (SCB) new figures published on Friday morning.

In June, inflation rose to 8.5 percent, which was a new record from the inflation figure for May, which landed at 7.2 percent, which was then the highest figure in 30 years.

Friday's announcement therefore means a decline.

In the United States, where inflation has been high for a longer period than in Europe, inflation for July also came in lower than expected and showed an annual rate of 8.5 percent.

That's a drop from 9.1 percent in June.

On Wednesday, record high inflation figures were presented in Norway and Denmark.

Norway's annual inflation rate was measured at 6.8 percent in July, compared with the 6.3 percent analysts had predicted.

In Denmark, the highest annual inflation rate since 1983 was measured, 8.7 percent.
