The rescue service announces at half past seven on Friday morning that all water has now been removed, but traffic on Hamnvägen is still affected.

- There is no water left now, but the traffic there is still closed and will probably be for most of today anyway, says the officer on duty at Södertörn's emergency services association.

Crack in pipeline

This as a repair work is to be carried out as both the pipeline and the road need to be fixed.

The reason for the leak was a break in a pipeline on Hamnvägen, near Tovastugan.

There must have been so much water that a police car stalled in the water and the car had to be towed from the scene, writes Södermanland's Nyheter.

It is not yet known how the crack in the pipeline occurred.

Emergency services worked overnight to divert the water to protect nearby properties.

- There were some properties that were threatened initially, but we managed to divert the water to avoid it, says the officer on duty at Södertörn's rescue service association.

The municipality of Nyköping wrote on its website at 04:00 that the only property that was without water at the time was the Tovastugan.
