French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the State of Qatar in sponsoring the Chadian peace negotiations.

In a telephone conversation with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the French President praised the success of the Doha Peace Agreement in Chad.

He stressed that the agreement represents an important step on the road to peace in Chad through the expected comprehensive national dialogue.

During the call, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.

The African and European Unions and Washington had welcomed the Doha Agreement as a historic opportunity for lasting peace in Chad, and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also commended the Chadian parties for their efforts to achieve peace.

And last Monday, a Qatari-sponsored peace agreement was signed in Doha between the transitional authorities in Chad and opposition groups.

Sheikh Tamim received the signatories to the Doha Peace Agreement in Chad, and said that the agreement represents a historic opportunity to achieve peace in this country.

The Emir of the State of Qatar called on the Chadian parties to give priority to the supreme interest of the Chadian people. He also expressed his hope that the rest of the Chadian groups would join the agreement, and stressed the importance of all parties’ commitment to it, stressing Qatar’s support for the peace path in Chad and that Doha would not delay in providing assistance in the future. .

The agreement of the Chadian parties paves the way for a comprehensive national reconciliation dialogue that will be held in Chad later this August.
