The 60-hectare wildfire broke out in Gorman, California on Wednesday and was extinguished by firefighters that evening.

No people are said to have been injured.

Fire tornadoes, or fire vortices as they are also called, occur when the hot air around the fire rises and begins to rotate.

This can cause the fire to form a vortex that can sometimes rise 100 meters above the ground.

May occur in Sweden

The phenomenon is unusual, but there is still a chance - or risk - that we could see a fire tornado in Sweden as well.

- But we are not as affected by forest fires as California, says SVT's meteorologist Nils Holmqvist.
