The coalition of parties, trade unions and civil society organizations has spearheaded protests against the ruling junta, and the announcement of its dissolution has drawn widespread criticism in the political arena.

Joachim Millimono Baba, member of the political council of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG), considers that this suspension constitutes a return to square one, in the era of former President Alpha Condé.

“

The dissolution of the FNDC is an arbitrary decision,

he regrets.

The FNDC, basically, you should know that it is a group of associations, NGOs, fully approved, all approved.

Political parties are part of it.

So considering the FNDC as a de facto movement and dissolving it, while this decision is not based on any legal basis, that explains to what extent arbitrariness has taken over power in the Republic of Guinea under the leadership of the CNRD

It's all the same regrettable

," he continues, "

because [these are] the same practices that we fought and against which Mamadi Doumbouya and the special forces carried out the coup on September 5, 2021, promising the Guineans to put an end to the personalization of power, to the violation of the law… Today, we see a return to square one.

The government pleads pragmatism

The FNDC, which is calling for demonstrations next Wednesday, denounces "

intimidation and harassment

" by the CNRD, the putschist junta in power for 11 months.

For its part, the government points to a "

 bad will

 " of the movement.

Government spokesman Ousmane Gaoual Diallo believes the authorities are only focusing on concrete issues.

“

The problem is: how to get out of the transition?

he asks.

The authorities have proposed a framework that takes into account the problems that led to this rectification of September 5th.

So these problems are questions related to the file, questions of institution, questions of texts of laws and questions related to electoral processes which did not follow the good diagram.

That's what was put on the table.

 »

What do they have to say about that?"

I think it's important that we stay on this stage.

The rest are just endless debates: "Yes, I want dialogue, no, I don't want dialogue".

But I think that in 100 years, we will still be in this question.

Will these issues get Guinea out of the transition?

No, I think we have to focus on the content and that's what the authorities are doing to ensure that Guinea moves forward
