He answered the question, what is the reason for the slow reaction of the EU to the shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

“It's a little strange for me to hear that the EU's response has been slow.

She wasn't slow at all.

Another thing is that it was inadequate,” Chizhov said.

He cited the statement of the relevant European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, dated August 8, in which she "draws attention to the shelling of the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and the surrounding area."

“And she attributed all this to the “irresponsible behavior” of the Russian armed forces.

Well, there is nowhere else to go, as they say," the diplomat said.

Chizhov said that the problem of shelling the station cannot but cause serious concern around the world.

He also noted that Moscow expects the IAEA to send its evaluation mission to the Zaporozhye NPP.

“This is what will make it possible to get an objective picture and understand what the real situation is there, who is to blame for what is happening, and what is needed for the situation to normalize,” he said.

Earlier, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, announced the threat of stopping the reactor of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant due to shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
