Chizhov specified that the Belgian Foreign Ministry "gave explanations that, firstly, they suspended the issuance of tourist visas to Russian citizens temporarily."

“And secondly, they did it, as they say, for purely technical reasons, due to a lack of staff in their consular department of the embassy in Moscow.

Well, of course, they attributed the lack of personnel to the Russian response,” the diplomat said.

He stressed that Russian measures were retaliatory.

Earlier, the Estonian Foreign Ministry said that the country is closing the borders for Russian citizens with Schengen visas issued by the republic.

Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts of the RUDN University, member of the Civic Chamber of Russia Nikita Danyuk, in an interview with RT, commented on the decision of the Estonian authorities.
