Garland said that the US Department of Justice, through the court, requested a warrant under which FBI agents searched Trump's estate.
“I personally approved the decision to request a search warrant,” he said.
Earlier, Trump said that his Mar-a-Lago estate was searched by agents of the FBI.
In his opinion, the search, which he called an attack by "radical left-wing Democrats", is connected with their desire to prevent Trump from running in the 2024 presidential election.
Trump also said that during the search, FBI agents asked everyone to leave the premises.
