Christophe is an opera singer and prefers the Paris metro to the stages of the opera.

Every day, he sings in the underground corridors of the metro.

Passionate about his activity, he welcomed our journalist Marie Gicquel to introduce him to his daily life.

“A little Ave Maria gets you back in shape”, laughs Christophe.

This one has been singing in the corridors of the metro since he entered the conservatory, forty-five years ago.

"The Ave Maria pays off, at least fifteen pieces of twenty centimes", he continues.

A special frame

An announcement from the RATP resounds in the corridors.

"Fortunately, I'm stronger than the ads!" Taunts Christophe.

His voice indeed covers all the parasitic noises of the metro.

"I had even unplugged the loudspeaker which is just above me, so I couldn't hear it anymore".

A gesture that he has not done often for fear of being excluded from the underground.

A profession of passion

At the same time, Christophe discusses with a user and begins an opera duet with him.

Many users head towards it or stop for a few moments.

"It's the life of the metro!", he exclaims with a big smile.

Passers-by seem very happy to attend this spectacle.

"It's me that makes me happy," adds Christophe, "it's an addiction, if I don't have that I die. Psychologically, I need that, otherwise honestly I have nothing!", concludes- he.
