  Data show that as of the 9th, there were 1,732 confirmed cases of monkeypox in Sao Paulo state, Brazil, ranking first in the country.

It was followed by the state of Rio de Janeiro (263 cases), Minas Gerais (102 cases), the Federal District where the capital Brasilia is located (92 cases), Goias (53 cases), Barra State (52), Rio Grande do Sul (29) and Santa Catarina (22).

In addition, Bahia, Pernambuco, Mato Grosso do Sul and Rio Grande do Norte have also reported confirmed cases.

  In order to curb the spread of monkeypox disease, the Brazilian Ministry of Health launched a national monkeypox emergency plan on the 9th. The plan lists the treatment plan and epidemic prevention and control measures for monkeypox cases, and provides action guidance for local governments.

In addition, the Brazilian Ministry of Health also stated that it will continue to negotiate with international agencies such as the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) on the purchase of drugs for the prevention and treatment of monkeypox by the Brazilian people.

  The Brazilian government plans to purchase 50,000 doses of the monkeypox vaccine, the first batch of which will be received by the end of August this year, and will be given priority to health professionals, Health Minister Marcelo Queiroga said.

He said the priority of the Brazilian Ministry of Health is to build a monkeypox diagnostic network and provide the public with relevant information about the monkeypox outbreak.

  The Brazilian Ministry of Health also held an online seminar on monkeypox prevention and control with the theme "Monkeypox: What you need to know" on the 10th, with more than 1,700 health professionals participating.

Alberto Chebabo, president of the Brazilian Society of Infectious Diseases (SBI), and relevant experts introduced monkeypox prevention and control measures at the meeting.

  On June 8 this year, the city of São Paulo reported the first confirmed case of monkeypox in Brazil.

On July 28, an immunocompromised male monkeypox patient died in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.
