In addition to documenting the insects and photographing the seaweed, they want help in seeing where the different types of seaweed are found.

At the beginning of the summer, they also asked for help in seeing how the seaweed was propagated.

- This is fantastic help we get.

As a researcher, I cannot be in all places at the same time.

But with the help we get from the public, we find out which different animals live in the seaweed.

From north to south, says Lena Kautsky, professor emeritus at Stockholm University.

New discovery

The documents and photographs that have been sent in since the start of the project have led to the discovery, among other things, of how the spread of the blue rod takes place.

- Autumn-breeding bluefish appear to be spreading in the Baltic Sea.

It was something we speculated on several years ago, but could not confirm.

And we would never have found this out if it weren't for all the reports we received from several different places, says Lena Kautsky.

In the video, Lena Kautsky tells how the public can help and where the unique blue rod has been found.
