The retro wave on German television is not abating – and in a few weeks it will bring television judge Barbara Salesch (72) back into the living room.

"Barbara Salesch – The Criminal Court" will be shown on weekdays at 11 a.m. from September 5, the RTL broadcaster announced on Wednesday.

With her show “Richterin Barbara Salesch”, Salesch helped found the big boom in court shows on television at the end of the 1990s – at the time it was still competing with Sat.1.

The last episode aired in 2012.

Her new broadcaster quoted her as saying: "I'm very happy that it's starting again.

The court always interests the viewers.” The “old professionalism” will be combined with “the latest developments”.

According to RTL, stories based on true events should be told in front of Salesch's judge's desk.

"Modern evidence" such as smartphone videos, voice messages and chat histories also played an important role.

Entertainment is offered as well as a moral compass.

In addition to Salesch, her colleague Ulrich Wetzel, previously a television judge at RTL (“The Criminal Court”), should also return to the cameras, as the broadcaster further announced.

An exact start date for his show “Ulrich Wetzel – The Criminal Court” has not yet been given.
