While the heat wave continues to affect France, with 18 departments on orange alert, some seem to have made the right choice this summer by leaving for Normandy.

Refreshing sea breeze, water at 20 degrees, bright sunshine, the weather is ideal for vacationers who want to escape the heat wave.

The heat wave continues to spread in France.

18 departments are on orange alert in the west of the country, from Finistère to the Hautes-Pyrénées.

Difficult at the moment to find a cool place.

The tourists who went to Normandy seem to have made the right choice.

On the pebble beach of Étretat, it's picnic time for Corine and Élisabeth.

No need for a parasol: installed on their towel in full sun, it is for them the ideal weather.

"Neither too hot nor too cold, it's impeccable. We're super happy with the magnificent weather. We're too good compared to the heat wave and we feel sorry for those who suffer from it. This year, Normandy is brilliant."

"In the South, it's unbreathable"

A refreshing sea wind, water at 20 degrees.

This Norman climate, many tourists come to seek it.

Thomas and his grandmother Monique even cut short their holidays on the Côte d'Azur.

"We feel the sun, but the wind is still fresh. We have just spent two weeks in the South. We have not had a bit of freshness, so it is better to breathe all the same. In the South, it is unbreathable," said Thomas.

"The freshness is good. We can at least walk around," smiles her grandmother.
