The Iranian "Noor News" website said - today, Wednesday - that Tehran has begun at the level of experts to study ideas put forward by the European Coordinator for the nuclear negotiations in Vienna, while Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian affirmed that he hopes Washington will provide a ground for reaching a final agreement by providing a realistic vision.

The local "IRNA" news agency quoted an unnamed Iranian Foreign Ministry official as saying that the final EU text to revive the nuclear deal needs a "comprehensive review", indicating that Ali Bagheri Kani, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and chief negotiator in the Vienna talks. - And his team will discuss the text with senior government officials in Tehran before making a final decision.

The Iranian official confirmed that relative progress has been made on the remaining issues in this round of talks that started last Thursday after a 5-month hiatus, but that "discussions will continue."

He pointed out that the Iranian negotiating team, led by Bagheri Kani, informed the other parties of its positions on the new draft text proposed by the European Union.

For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian stressed - during a call with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu - that he hopes Washington will provide a ground for reaching a final agreement by providing a realistic vision.

Abdullahian added that his country conveyed messages to the Americans through the European side in the recent nuclear negotiations in Vienna, without clarifying what those messages were.

The minister believed that the final agreement should guarantee the rights and interests of the Iranian people and effectively and permanently lift sanctions.

European proposal

Last Monday evening, the European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, announced the submission of the "final text" of the nuclear agreement with Iran, calling on the countries concerned to take their decisions in order to revive the agreement.

"We have a final text, and there are decisions that must be taken in the capitals concerned to return to the nuclear agreement," Borrell said.

For its part, the US State Department said that the EU text is the only possible basis for reviving the nuclear agreement with Iran, stressing Washington's readiness to quickly reach an agreement on this basis.

She added that Iran has repeatedly said that it is ready to revive the agreement, and we have to see if its words match its actions.

Diplomats from Iran, the United States and 5 other countries (China, Russia, France, Britain and Germany) have been negotiating for months in Vienna on a deal to restore Tehran's commitment to curbs on its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

The negotiations were punctuated by a series of interruptions due to the main differences between Tehran and Washington.

And in May 2018, former US President Donald Trump reinstated sanctions on Tehran, after announcing Washington's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement concluded during the era of his Democratic predecessor Barack Obama.
