The embargo of the European Union and Great Britain on the supply of Russian coal will come into force on August 10

“The sanctions package includes a ban on the purchase, import or transfer of coal and other solid fossil fuels to the EU if they originate from Russia or are exported from there, starting from August 2022,” the document says.

However, the document provided for a delay in order to enable the execution of contracts relating to the import of Russian coal to the European Union, which were concluded before the introduction of the relevant EU restrictions.

It expires on August 10th.

On April 8, the European Union adopted the fifth package of anti-Russian sanctions in connection with the special operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.

In accordance with it, from August 2022, the EU introduces a ban on the import of coal and other solid fossil fuels from Russia.
