On Wednesday evening, SMHI issued a warning of strong wind in Northern Lapland on Thursday for an hour between 11 and 12. Visitors who are in the area, which stretches from Sarek and northwards in Northern Lapland, are advised not to go out on the mountain .

Low pressure in the Norwegian Sea

The background to the weather is a low pressure on the Norwegian Sea that causes strong to very strong wind, 15-22 meters per second.

This can make it difficult to move around as well as travel and anchor tents.

The windiest areas are on the leeward side and on Kalfjäll, SMHI states.
