The municipality of Barcelona hunts down "botellones", these drunken parties that can bring together hundreds of people in the streets or on the beach.

In an article published this Tuesday, August 9, the

Guardian

indicates that the City has decided to considerably increase the amount of fines linked to the consumption of alcohol on public roads.

Fine of up to 600 euros

The note for partygoers can now amount to 600 euros, against 60 to 100 euros maximum previously.

These XXL fines will be drawn up in the event of “serious disturbances in the daily life of citizens”, specified Albert Batlle, municipal councilor.

It is up to the agent to judge whether this is the case or not.

The discount in the event of payment within 30 days has also been reduced to 50% instead of 75%.

The verbalizations have already begun, and loudly.

Pedro Velázquez, Barcelona's municipal police chief, said 747 people were fined for drinking in the street between August 2 and August 8.

The amounts ranged up to 100 euros.

But they could therefore rapidly increase in the future.
