Despite the fact that, due to the high pressure, Matmissionen has introduced appointment booking in the store, the food shelves are full of life.

The Skåne City Mission is behind the operation, where customers have the opportunity to buy food for 30 percent of the price it is usually sold for.

- These kinds of cuts of meat I buy now, I can't even remember the last time I bought them, says an older woman, pointing down at the pork tenderloin in the food basket.

High pressure

The concept is that people who barely make it can shop for SEK 300 a week.

The food products on the shelves are surplus from both wholesalers and food chains.

The pressure on the business, which opened last autumn, has increased considerably.

Six months ago, they received 40-50 applications a week, now the number has basically doubled.

A contributing factor is that membership applications have been simplified with an app.

But above all, it is believed that the economic situation and the high prices have done their part.

- Most people mention that they cannot afford to shop in other stores, says store administrator Masoud Zaher.

"The money is not enough"

Sisters Teresa and Maritza Fuentes have been members since last year.

They have lived with the high prices, but now they have more space to offer the grandchildren good things.

- We didn't buy everything, you had to choose, says Teresa Fuentes.
