  The report said that this is the final step in the US approval of Finland and Sweden to join NATO.

"We have full confidence that they will meet every NATO requirement," Biden said before signing the document.

  When talking about the two countries joining NATO, Biden said, "Our alliance is closer and more united than ever before, and with Finland and Sweden joining, we will be stronger than ever."

  Finland and Sweden formally applied to join NATO in May this year.

According to the regulations, NATO must "unanimously agree" on the premise of 30 member states to admit new members.

Turkey, which was previously opposed, signed a memorandum with Finland and Sweden in June this year after several rounds of consultations, confirming its support for Finland and Sweden to join NATO, removing obstacles for the two countries to join the treaty.

  On July 5, the NATO Secretary-General, the Finnish and Swedish Foreign Ministers formally signed the protocol for Finland and Sweden to join NATO.
