It is still an occasion to write the poem "Do not criticize my extreme shame", which was sung by the currently retired Egyptian singer, Najat Al-Saghira, and its author, the Kuwaiti poet Suad Al-Sabah, denied any connection to the poem with the late Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani, the talk of the communication platforms.

And the common story about this song is that “the Kuwaiti poet attended one of the literary evenings in Cairo, in the presence of the poet Nizar Qabbani,” and it was said that she “stuttered while reciting a poem, so Nizar asked her to leave the theater and learn Arabic.” In response to Qabbani, Al-Sabah decided to write this The poem:

Do not criticize my extreme shyness, for I am very simple and you are an expert

, Lord of words. Give me a chance so that the bird may study its lesson

Al-Sabah explained - in a press interview - that "it is sad that a fictional story spread that changes the occasion for writing the poem, erases its true details, and claims that I wrote it in response to a situation with Professor Nizar Qabbani, after he angered me and asked me to get off the poetry platform and learn the Arabic language.. in An evening he never attended.

The Kuwaiti poet pointed out that the poem belongs to her husband, which forced her to explain, "If the poem on its occasion, its letters, feelings and pulse belong to my husband, Sheikh Abdullah Mubarak Al-Sabah, I would not have written an explanation, and I would not have tried myself to pursue the rumor to put it out."

Regarding the Cairo conference, the poet explained that “it happened in the early nineties, immediately after the liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion,” in which she spoke about the impact of the invasion on Kuwait, “and I did not read any poem in it.”

Dr. Al-Sabah went on to say, "Professor Nizar has his importance and value as a person and a poet in the hearts of his fans, but he does not have the power to ask me to come down from the poetry platform, and it has not happened that I used my poetry in apologies of this kind."

She added, "Many pulpits around the world brought me together with Professor Nizar and other great poets of that period, and it did not happen that I recited this poem specifically in his presence. It is obvious that the prudent observer would wonder about the absence of the press and the media about covering an alleged event like this, which takes place in a poetic evening. In the presence of writers, intellectuals, and followers, and in Cairo... the interested person only has to search for the archives of the Egyptian and Arab newspapers at that period, as he will not find a trace of such imagination.”

Back to singing after a break

The song "Do not criticize my extreme shame" represented Najat Al-Saghira's return to singing in 1998 after a hiatus of several years, since she sang "I ask you to leave" for the late musician Mohamed Abdel Wahab in the year of his death in 1991 on the Grand Dome Theater in Tunisia.

Najat filmed the song for television, and Hani Lashin directed it in 1998, but the composer Kamal Al-Taweel stopped its show because he did not attend its recording due to the circumstances of his illness.

Najat returned and presented the song at the Carthage Festival in Tunisia also in 2001, after a rumor circulated behind the scenes about her apology for singing following the death of her sister, artist Souad Hosni in London, but she sent a message to the festival management confirming her presence and commitment to her commitments in respect of her audience.

Najat retired from singing in 2002, then returned at the beginning of 2017 with the song "Kol Al Kalam", written by Abdul Rahman Al-Abnoudi, composed by Talal and distributed by Yahya Al-Muji.
