In 1980, the singer and actress Olivia Newton-John (known for playing Sandy in
Grease
) met the American actor
Peter Lattanzi,
while recording the well-remembered film
Xanadu
.
According to those close to them, the two formed
a "weird couple".
However, they remained
together for almost 10 years
and Peter gave Olivia her most precious treasure: her
daughter Chloe,
who - as he commented on numerous occasions - was one of her main reasons for staying alive.
And it is that Olivia was diagnosed, for the first time, with breast cancer
when her daughter was only six years old.
"When I was diagnosed, I had a moment of panic, but I had to make the decision that I was going to be fine, because I had a daughter to raise ... And since then I believe that
the mind plays an important part
in recovery, "he said. the interpreter, in March 2021.
Thus, in the early 1990s, Newton-John began to develop an extremely
optimistic
mindset .
Moreover, when he separated from Lattanzi -who accompanied her during the first stage of her illness-, he decided to do it
in the friendliest way possible,
so that her daughter would not be affected.
Still, Chloe has revealed that she once felt angry at her mother.
"My parents split up when I was nine and it was hard. We moved and I could only see my dad a couple of times a week... And when I was 15, my mom decided we moved
from Australia to England. She dragged me along.
She was very angry, but because at that moment I couldn't see it with her eyes.
And now I feel very grateful that she chose this, because she had the wisdom to see the future," she told
Women's Weekly
in 2019.
Newton-John, who is a lady of the court of Queen Elizabeth, and her daughter moved to England around 2001. Despite this, the celeb always lived
mainly in the United States,
where she had one of her most controversial romances: her relationship with cameraman
Patrick McDermott,
whom she dated for nine years.
According to various reports,
her relationship was not idyllic,
but neither was it "strange" for others.
In fact, the adjectives "mysterious" and "unusual" only appeared when McDemortt
disappeared
, in 2005, on a trip to the Californian coast.
For almost five years, the US Navy maintained that Patrick
was lost at sea.
However, in 2010, a private investigator produced evidence that McDermott
was alive,
in Mexico, and that he had only
faked his death
in order to collect life insurance
.
For Newton-John, of course, the news came as an
almost disabling
shock .
Although there was someone who was there to help her, 100%, during that process:
her new husband John Easterling.
A wealthy businessman - founder of the Amazon Herb Company naturist company - with whom she began dating in 2007, she fell in love "taking ayahuasca and making love in the forest", and
married in 2008,
in an Inca ceremony, in a mountain, in Cusco.
"John and I spent a vacation in Peru, with some mutual friends, and we fell in love on that trip... And a year later
we went back to the top of the mountain and got married.
Why there? Because John has been traveling to Peru for 20 years and has shown me how special it is to be there.
It's so beautiful and so pure..."
Newton-John explained to the press, after their link.

Since their marriage, Olivia has passionately immersed herself in Easterling's world, so it's no surprise that when she was
diagnosed
with breast cancer again, the actress decided to try
natural therapies
.
"I was diagnosed for the second time in 2013, after
my sister passed away from a
brain tumor and I was in a car accident. I think those tumors were instigated by both events [...] Then in 2017 it was he found
cancer at the base of my spine
and I thought it was sciatica. I was in Australia shooting a movie and my husband had to pick me up because I couldn't do it. That night I ended up in
the hospital that I had founded.
[...] And so I started taking the cannabis tinctures that my husband makes for me.
He has been very
beneficial to me with sleep, pain, anxiety and inflammation,
" the artist said in March of last year.
During the last stage of her illness - which forced her to undergo a
partial mastectomy,
breast reconstruction and a period of chemotherapy - Newton-John was constantly accompanied by her husband, who also became
part of her cancer foundation. ,
which publishes studies on how natural, plant-based therapies help deal with the disease.
"I'm not telling you that any therapy should be replaced. I just want to investigate if we can cure cancer in a gentler way, that
stimulates the immune system,
instead of destroying it," he mentioned in 2021, about his use of marijuana, which came
from his daughter's farms,
who runs a company called Laughing Dog Farm.
A company that markets cannabis probiotics and biostimulants.

As a result of this, Olivia co-decided numerous interviews, in recent times, talking about her experience with cannabis, her bond with her daughter - whom she considered her best friend - and how a cruel diagnosis led her to enjoy life more.
"The only thing I can recommend to people is
to see life with optimism.
You are what you believe. And, of course, I feel sad sometimes, like everyone else. But I want you to know that
you can think differently" ,
he stated during the promotion of his book
Olivia
, where he also pointed out how grateful he felt to be able to live.
"I think I'm going to be fine, because
attitude is important and I intend to live a long time.
to help others do the same.
I am very grateful for life.
After everything that's happened to me,
I'm just
so grateful
to be here,"
she said last September.
