China News Service, Berlin, August 9th. A few days ago, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, despite China's strong opposition and solemn representations, insisted on visiting Taiwan, China, interfering in internal affairs, violating the one-China principle, trampling on the UN Charter, and undermining peace.

However, some German media reports ignore the facts, avoid talking about the malicious provocation of the US, criticize China's legitimate countermeasures, and even openly applaud the "Taiwan independence" activities.

The Chinese embassy in Germany expresses its firm opposition to this, and clears the source of the fallacies and distorted and smeared words in order to correct them:

Fallacy 1: Rendering "Taiwan's Status Undecided"

The fact is: there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan has been an inalienable part of China's territory since ancient times.

This is not only a historical fact, but also has a solid legal basis.

At the end of World War II, the 1943 Cairo Declaration clearly required Japan to return the territory it had stolen from China, including Taiwan and the Penghu Islands, to China, which was reiterated in the 1945 Potsdam Declaration.

Resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly in 1971 made it clear that the government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China.

The one-China principle is the consensus of the international community and the basic norm of international relations. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, 181 countries have established diplomatic relations with China on the basis of this principle.

Although Taiwan and the mainland of the motherland have not yet been unified, China's sovereignty and territory have never been divided, and the fact that both sides of the strait belong to one China has never changed.

Fallacy 2: "The responsibility for changing the status quo in the Taiwan Strait lies with China"

The fact is: the United States is the initiator of endangering peace in the Taiwan Strait and regional stability.

With the end of the Cold War and the rapid development of China, the United States and the West have begun to adopt the policy of "Taiwan to control China", which echoes the "Taiwan independence" forces inside and outside, and the "Taiwan independence" separatist acts are increasingly rampant, constantly challenging and hollowing out the principle of one China.

Some people in the US continue to exaggerate the "China military threat" on the Taiwan issue, which is essentially looking for an excuse for the US to increase its own military spending, expand its military power, interfere in the affairs of the Asia-Pacific region, and create an "Asian version of NATO".

The U.S. side has repeatedly announced to sell weapons and equipment worth hundreds of millions of dollars to Taiwan, and has continuously gathered NATO countries to show off their force and provoke troubles in the Taiwan Strait, in an attempt to change the status quo of the Taiwan issue and push Taiwan into a dangerous situation.

The U.S. called Pelosi's visit to Taiwan a "private visit", which was a cover up for her, and took a dangerous step in condoning the issue of "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.

Fallacy 3: "China's military exercises overreact, undermining the prospect of peaceful reunification"

The fact is: Pelosi's visit to Taiwan caused serious consequences, seriously violated the one-China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiques, severely impacted the political foundation of Sino-US relations, seriously violated China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, seriously undermined the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait, and The "Taiwan independence" separatist forces have sent a seriously wrong signal.

As a matter of course, China has made a firm response. Our position is legitimate, reasonable and legal, our measures are firm, forceful and appropriate, and our military exercises are open, transparent and professional, in line with domestic law, international law and international practice.

At the same time, China has always advocated the realization of the peaceful reunification of the two sides with the greatest sincerity and best efforts, but the increasingly rampant "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and actions have undermined this vision.

It does not promise to renounce the use of force, and it is aimed at the interference of external forces and the very few "Taiwan independence" separatists and their separatist activities, and is definitely not aimed at compatriots on the island of Taiwan.

What needs to be emphasized is that it is purely China's internal affairs to resolve the Taiwan issue, and China has the right to take all necessary measures to resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Fallacy 4: "Pelosi's visit to Taiwan demonstrates her support for Taiwan's democracy and defends democratic values"

The fact is: what Pelosi did under the guise of "democracy", violated China's sovereignty, undermined the stability of the Taiwan Strait, and contained China's development. It was a blatant political manipulation, and once again exposed the ugly face of the United States' fake democracy and real hegemony.

Democracy is the common value of all mankind and the right of the people of all countries, not the self-interest of a few countries.

Whether a country is a democracy should be judged by the people of the country, not by the finger-pointing of a few outsiders.

In response to the farce of Pelosi's visit, more than 160 countries have voiced justice, condemning Pelosi's visit to Taiwan as a serious provocation, expressing that they will adhere to the one-China principle and support China in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

More than 80 percent of the world's population and nearly 90 percent of the people of the countries stand with China, stand on the right side of history, and stand on the side of fairness and justice.

The Chinese embassy in Germany pointed out that China hopes that Germany can abide by its commitment to the one-China principle with practical actions, not dance with the United States, and be cautious in words and deeds on Taiwan-related issues.

At the same time, I also hope that German media and people from all walks of life will always remain vigilant against erroneous remarks that violate the one-China principle, recognize the essence of the Taiwan issue, and not be misled by the above fallacies and say "no" to the "Taiwan independence" forces and those who support "Taiwan independence".
