“In the afternoon, the president will make a speech and sign the instruments of ratification on the protocols on accession to the North Atlantic Treaty of the Republic of Finland and the Kingdom of Sweden,” TASS reports.

It is noted that the signing ceremony will begin at 21:00 Moscow time.

The US Senate voted earlier to adopt a resolution on the ratification of the protocols on the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO.

However, in order for Finland and Sweden to join NATO, all 30 bloc member countries must approve the necessary documents.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that Moscow will be forced to respond mirror to the deployment of NATO military infrastructure in Finland and Sweden after the entry of these states into the alliance.
