Trifonov, ex-head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Yekaterinburg, was sentenced to 9.5 years in prison in a bribery case

“The court sentenced Trifonov to nine years and six months in a strict regime colony,” the judge said.

As URA.RU clarifies, the prosecutor's office demanded such a punishment for the accused.

Major General Trifonov was detained in Moscow in 2019 on charges of accepting a bribe on an especially large scale.

He was also charged with illegal possession of weapons.

In early August, the Moscow City Court found State Duma deputy Vadim Belousov guilty in a case of a bribe in the amount of 3.25 billion rubles.

He was sentenced to ten years in a strict regime colony.

The defendant in the case is also the former chief accountant of Chelyabinsk First Khlebokombinat OJSC Margarita Butakova.

According to investigators, from 2010 to 2014, Belousov and Butakova, as part of an organized criminal group, together with the ex-governor of the Chelyabinsk region Mikhail Yurevich and other persons, received a bribe from representatives of a road construction holding for providing general patronage to the activities of its enterprises.
