The area would not be mowed until August 15, when the species have had time to germinate and thus have better conditions to germinate in the future.

But parts of the path by the roadside on Svartöbrinken can no longer be called a meadow.

- I feel secure in the fact that our drivers and contractors know that it is after August 15 that it will be cut.

I've looked at the entire stretch and it's really just one area that's cut.

When it is we who mow, the entire distance is taken.

It looks like some kind of own initiative from somewhere, says Anna-Marita Johansson, section manager at Luleå municipality's park operation.

The night violet remains in the area

After a tip that night violets had been seen, the municipality investigated the site and concluded that the edge of the road must be protected.

Among the part of the path that has survived mowing, Anna-Marita finds the species to which the area is adapted.

- I don't know if any specimens have grown exactly where it was cut, but we have marked the entire stretch as species-rich precisely so that we can avoid that protected plants are cut down too early.
