Inter Milan announced on its site "to have reached an agreement for the amicable termination of the contract" of Alexis Sanchez.

"The club would like to thank Alexis for his three seasons in nerazzurro, punctuated by three trophies, and wishes him the best for the rest of his career," the statement added.

The agreement allows the Nerazzurro club to offload a significant salary, around 7 million net annually according to the media.

Inter would have agreed to pay him compensation of some EUR 5 million to conclude this early termination.

Arrived in 2019 at Inter, Alexis Sanchez never established himself as a starter, in particular due to several injuries during his first two seasons.

He nevertheless had his hour of glory with a decisive goal last season in the Italian Super Cup at the last second of extra time against Juventus (2-1 ap).

His departure from Inter, which follows that of his compatriot Arturo Vidal, had been expected for several weeks, mainly due to the return to Lombardy of Romelu Lukaku.

Coach Simone Inzaghi was not counting on the Chilean, overtaken in the attacking hierarchy also by Lautaro Martinez, Edin Dzeko and Joquin Correa.

The president of Olympique de Marseille Pablo Longoria confirmed on Sunday that he was in discussions with Alexis Sanchez.

"It's a profile that totally matches what we want to put in place," he said on Prime Video.

With Sanchez, who has 64 appearances in C1 (for 13 goals) with Barça, Arsenal, Manchester United and Inter, Marseille would strengthen with a fast and experienced player.
