The Hong Kong government has announced that it will shorten the mandatory quarantine period for overseas travelers from seven days to three days as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus.

It seems that the aim is to alleviate dissatisfaction with the strict infection control measures raised by the business world.

Hong Kong's top executive, Li Jia Chao, held a press conference on the 8th and announced that the quarantine period at designated hotels, which is mandatory for overseas travelers, will be shortened from 7 days to 3 days.

The new measures will be applied from the 12th of this month.

At a press conference, Secretary Lee said, "We will balance risks and the economy, revitalize social activities, and revitalize the economy." .

Hong Kong continues to take strict measures such as quarantining travelers and banning gatherings of more than five people in line with China's so-called "zero corona" policy, but dissatisfaction is growing among business circles and citizens. The measures appear to be aimed at alleviating such dissatisfaction.
