Foreign Minister Hayashi held a meeting with UN Secretary-General Guterres, who is visiting Japan, and expressed concern over the growing tensions in the regional situation following the fall of a Chinese ballistic missile inside Japan's EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone). Together, we agreed on the importance of easing tensions.

On the morning of the 8th, Foreign Minister Hayashi held a meeting with UN Secretary-General Guterres for approximately 30 minutes at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.



Regarding the situation in Taiwan, Minister Hayashi said that part of the ballistic missiles launched by China during military exercises fell inside Japan's EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone), which is a serious issue related to Japan's security. I conveyed the idea.



On that basis, the two shared their concerns about the growing tension in the regional situation, and shared the recognition that it is important to ease tensions.



In addition, Minister Hayashi said that it is important to strengthen the functions of the United Nations as a whole, including reforming the United Nations Security Council. He expressed his desire to work closely together to address issues facing the international community.
