The Ukrainian State Nuclear Power Generation Company issued an announcement stating that as of 8:00 on August 6, 2022, the operation of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant has the risk of violating radiation and fire safety standards.

  The announcement stated that one generator set of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is currently under accident protection, and another has been deactivated.

There is still a risk of leakage of radioactive contaminants, as well as the risk of fire.

Nuclear power plant personnel continue to work to ensure nuclear and radiation safety and to eliminate the consequences of the accident.

  The announcement emphasized that the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant continues to operate and produce electricity for the needs of the Ukrainian energy system.
