"Chinese military leaders have not returned numerous calls from their American counterparts this week," the article says.
It is noted that the last contact between the two sides at the level of chiefs of general staff took place on July 7.
Earlier it was reported that the People's Liberation Army of China carried out live firing in the waters of the eastern part of the Taiwan Strait using long-range artillery.
