Recently, a beluga whale unexpectedly appeared in the Seine River in France, attracting attention from all walks of life.

Rescue workers are trying to help him out of danger.

The beluga whale was first spotted in the Seine earlier this week, and rescuers including French biodiversity officials and firefighters rushed into action to keep a close eye on the whale's condition via drones and boats.

Currently it is still in the Seine, just 70 kilometers from Paris (Paris is 365 kilometers from the mouth of the Seine).

Marine conservation organization staff said that the environment of the Seine is "not very friendly" for beluga whales, mainly because of river pollution; at the same time, because the Seine is very noisy, and whales are extremely sensitive to noise.

Rescuers are working to redirect the beluga to the mouth of the Seine and eventually back to sea, but the difficulty is palpable.

Rescuers revealed the beluga had "changed skin and was underweight", suggesting it had developed health problems.

Rescuers said that the beluga can only survive temporarily in the river environment. If it stays in the Seine River, it will be difficult to survive. At present, the top priority of rescue is to feed it as soon as possible to prevent it from starving to death.

Belugas generally live in frigid Arctic waters and migrate from Arctic waters in the fall, but rarely venture so far south, biologists say.
