The White House on Friday called on China to cease its military maneuvers since Nancy Pelosi's controversial visit to Taiwan, in order to reduce tensions in the region.

“The Chinese can do a lot to reduce tensions by ceasing their provocative military exercises and calming the tone,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said.

He also assured that the United States would continue to maintain military contacts "at the highest level" with China, despite the fact that Beijing has suspended several cooperation agreements, particularly in this area.
