He recalled that Moscow had already taken on a unilateral obligation not to place guns falling under the INF Treaty in regions where similar American-made weapons would not be deployed.

“In order to prevent a new disastrous nuclear-missile arms race ... we call on the United States and its allies to make similar commitments,” the TASS diplomat was quoted as saying.

In April, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, on the air of the Big Game program on Channel One, announced the West's rejection of Russia's proposal for a mutual moratorium on the INF Treaty.

Earlier, the minister said that Russia is concerned about the intentions of the United States to deploy intermediate and shorter-range missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
