assassinated a leader in the "Jihad" .. Israel launches a military operation in Gaza

On Friday, the Israeli army announced the launch of a military operation in the Gaza Strip targeting the Islamic Jihad movement, which included the assassination of a prominent leader in the movement's military wing.

The Israeli army said that one of the strikes killed Taysir al-Jabari, commander of the northern region of Saraya al-Quds, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad in Gaza.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that the Israeli raids left 8 people dead, including a five-year-old girl, and wounded more than 44 people.

On the other hand, an Israeli army spokesman estimated that 15 people were killed in raids on Gaza.

Video footage showed that a residential building in Gaza City was bombed.

Wafa stated that Israeli tanks bombed the east of the town of Beit Lahia in the north of the Gaza Strip, in addition to its center, and the "Honey syrup" area east of Khan Yunis in the south of the Strip.

And the Israeli army said in a statement that it calls this operation "The Truthful Dawn", which targets the sites of the Islamic Jihad movement in the Gaza Strip, declaring a "special status" for the home front in Israel.

In this context, the Ashkelon Municipality announced the opening of the shelters for the residents after the Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip.

This operation comes after days of tension between Israel and the Islamic Jihad movement.

For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said in a series of tweets on his official Twitter account: "The Israeli army recently attacked Islamic Jihad targets in the Gaza Strip. This operation aims to remove a tangible threat to the citizens of the State of Israel, besiege Gaza and inflict harm on terrorists and their workers."

He added, "The Israeli government will not allow terrorist organizations to threaten the citizens of the State of Israel. Anyone who wants to harm Israel knows that we will reach him."

He continued, "After the IDF operation in the Gaza Strip, I will conduct an assessment of the security situation with Defense Minister Benny Gantz, at 6:30 pm in Tel Aviv."

Tensions escalated between Israel and the Islamic Jihad movement, after the arrest of the movement's leader, Bassam al-Saadi, during a military operation in the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank, a few days ago.

The IDF Chief of Staff, General Aviv Kohavi, visited the Gaza Strip borders earlier today, for the third time within 24 hours, as did Defense Minister Benny Gantz, who said that the authorities were preparing for "moves that will remove the threat from this area," according to the agency. Associated Press.

The Israeli areas bordering the Gaza Strip are in a state of security alert for four days, as life there has been largely paralyzed, and the army has sent more reinforcements.

Israeli media reported that the Islamic Jihad was planning to carry out attacks in response to the arrest of Al-Saadi, which raised the level of tension.
