The government brought together representatives of political parties at the Prime Minister's Office on Thursday August 4 to plead national unity in the face of growing insecurity in the north of the country.

Some parties were not invited, but more than twenty parties were represented, and the meeting lasted 5 hours.

Prime Minister Victoire Tomegah-Dogbé's speech was followed by three presentations by ministers on terrorism and government measures to deal with it.

The message to the Togolese political parties was clear: we must close ranks in the face of the security emergency.

", argues Christian Trimua, spokesperson of the government.

During the debate which followed, the opposition was able to express its reservations, this was the case of the National Alliance for Change, party of Jean-Pierre Fabre, the ANC which was represented by Francis Pedro Amuzun.

I asked how this united front is going to be done when the government hinders the work of political parties and also despises the population?

Because not long ago, in the Savanes region, the government harshly repressed the students who were on strike and who demanded that their teachers return to class.

The Togolese executive says he has heard the frustrations about freedoms, in a security and health context, he underlines, which has become complex.

He says he has taken note of the proposals to improve the fight against terrorism and announces that new measures will be taken in the coming weeks.
