From Lysekil in the north, to Falkenberg in the south and all the way across Västergötland, SMHI has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for Thursday afternoon and evening.

- Heavy rain and thundershowers are about to move in over the west coast, says meteorologist Erik Höjgård-Olsen.

However, the amounts of rain and the occurrence of thunder can vary as they are local phenomena.

There is currently no downpour warning, but up to 20 millimeters of rain can locally fall in six hours.

"Avoid high points"

Thunder and heavy rain can, among other things, lead to flooding both on roads and at home in the basement.

There is also a risk of fires occurring and electricity supply and train traffic being affected.

- Pay attention to the weather.

If you see that there is thunder, you should avoid being on the highest point of a place.

If you don't have to be out running, I recommend that you go in and enjoy the spectacle instead, says Erik Höjgård-Olsen.
