Floods in Pakistan: "Lost our houses and have no food for our children"

Over 350 people and approximately 1,800 animals are estimated to have died so far in the floods in Pakistan.

The monsoon season lasts from the beginning of July to the end of September every year, but this year 60 percent of the normal amount of monsoon rain has already fallen in the country.

The government is criticized

In connection with communities and infrastructure being affected by the monsoon, sharp criticism is usually directed at those in power in Pakistan.

Syed Murad Ali Shah, the supreme leader of the Sindh region that includes Karachi, has said that the amount of rain has been at a record high and that the local government has handled the situation as best it could, according to the New York Times.

Severe floods have also affected Bangladesh, India and the United Arab Emirates in the past month.
