The human rights organization Amnesty International has published a report on violations of international humanitarian norms by Ukrainian troops.

From the materials prepared by the organization, it follows that the tactics chosen by the Armed Forces of Ukraine create a danger to the civilian population.

“We have documented a series of cases where Ukrainian forces posed a threat to civilians or violated the rules of war by operating in populated areas,” the press service of the organization quotes the words of its secretary general, Agnès Callamar.

In the course of the investigation, the organization’s employees revealed evidence of attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine from populated peaceful areas, as well as the facts of the deployment of Ukrainian troops in the buildings of civilian infrastructure in 19 settlements of the Kharkiv and Nikolaev regions, as well as the Donetsk People’s Republic.

As Amnesty International noted, most of the populated areas where the Ukrainian military was stationed were located kilometers from the front.

At the same time, the organization emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had suitable alternatives that would avoid a threat to the civilian population.

These are, in particular, nearby military bases and dense areas of forest or other structures located far from populated areas.

In addition, the organization noted that in documented cases there is no evidence that Ukrainian formations stationed in civilian structures in residential areas asked civilians to evacuate from nearby buildings or helped them to do so.

“The position of the defending side does not exempt the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the need to comply with international humanitarian law,” said the Secretary General of Amnesty International.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, drew attention to the report on the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, noting that the Russian side had repeatedly reported similar facts before.

“We talk about this all the time, calling the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the tactics of using the civilian population as human shields,” she wrote on Telegram.

Political scientist Yuri Svetov, in an interview with RT, drew attention to the continued disregard for the behavior of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by Western human rights organizations.

“There is such a Russian proverb: “And a year has not passed since they saw it.”

Everything that was in relation to Russian prisoners of war, to the shelling of cities, all this passed by their attention, and finally they noticed.

I think that this is a manifestation of some general trend in the world, a certain preparation for the defeat of Ukraine, it has begun, ”the expert said in an interview with RT.

According to him, after the completion of the special operation, international tribunals will be organized and clear evidence of crimes committed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and documentary evidence of eyewitnesses will be presented.

By this point, the expert notes, human rights organizations will have to answer questions about why they turned a blind eye to the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a long time.

In turn, military observer, retired Colonel Viktor Litovkin believes that in the future there will be a lot of new information about Ukraine's approach to warfare.

“We will learn how the international community will take notice of crimes that have not been noticed so far.

Donbass was shelled for eight years, and not a single international organization noticed this, ”the expert said in an interview with RT.

According to him, the interest of the foreign community in the crimes and violations of international law by Ukraine indicates that the West is beginning to understand that Ukraine must be defeated, and comes to terms with it.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on an ongoing basis reports numerous facts of the use of civilian infrastructure by Ukrainian troops.

In particular, the report of the Interdepartmental Coordinating Headquarters of the Russian Federation for Humanitarian Response dated August 2 refers to recent cases of the deployment of AFU support facilities in the building of educational institutions, the placement of weapons and ammunition depots at a sports facility, as well as the installation of combat positions of man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems on the roof residential buildings.

As Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexander Fomin said on August 3 during a speech on the humanitarian aspects of the special operation, the Russian side continues to record cases of violations by the Ukrainian military of the norms of international humanitarian law and obligations under international conventions.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine use the civilian population as a human shield, place heavy weapons in densely populated areas at social facilities, medical institutions and cultural heritage sites,” Fomin said during his speech.

As the deputy minister emphasized, Kyiv does not limit itself to any moral or legal norms, using the patronage of the West.

“Every day, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and nationalist battalions commit crimes that are not properly appreciated by the international community,” said the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Shelling of Donbass and liberated territories of Ukraine

Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the military-civilian administration (CAA) of the Kherson region, said that on the night of August 4, the air defense system repulsed an attempt to shell the Antonovsky bridge, which connects Kherson with the region.

“There were no strikes on the bridge.

There were attempts, but everything was reflected by the air defense system.

Nothing flew over the bridge at all, all these are fakes, ”Stremousov said, commenting on the message of the Ukrainian side about the strikes on the bridge.

His words are quoted by TASS.

He noted that the situation in the region is under the control of the CAA.

Meanwhile, in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on the morning of August 4, they said that on the previous day the Ukrainian side opened fire in the direction of the republic 63 times, firing 542 units of various ammunition.

“In the Donetsk direction, the enemy used MLRS BM-21 Grad, MLRS BM-27 Uragan, artillery 155-, 152- and 122-mm, mortars 120-mm.

On Yasinovatsky - 122- and 152-mm artillery.

On Gorlovsky - 155-, 152- and 122-mm artillery, 120-mm mortars, ”the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC) said in a statement.

As a result of these attacks, two civilians were killed and 14 more were injured.

According to the headquarters of the territorial defense of the DPR, on the morning of August 4, as a result of shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the Voroshilovsky district of Donetsk, where the farewell to DPR Colonel Olga Kachura was supposed to take place, two people were killed and five more were injured.
