7:45 am: Hard blow for Société Générale
The bank announced a net loss of nearly 1.5 billion euros in the second quarter, directly linked to the sale of Rosbank.
Société Générale announced last May that the sale of its Russian subsidiary to the Russian investment fund Interros would result in a net loss then estimated at 3.2 billion euros.
However, Société Générale's net banking income (NBI), equivalent to turnover, amounted to 7 billion euros from April to June, up 12.8% over one year, driven by all trades.
7:40 a.m .: The Azov regiment described as “terrorist”
The Russian Supreme Court has classified the Ukrainian Azov regiment, famous for defending Mariupol in Ukraine, as a “terrorist organization”.
Under Russian law, the leaders of a terrorist organization risk 15 to 20 years in prison, their simple members between five and ten years.
These penalties could therefore be applied to combatants taken prisoner by Russia.
