He recalled the statements of some delegations in which they noted their concern about the situation around nuclear facilities in Ukraine.

According to diplomats, the reason was the presence of the Russian military there - in particular, it was about the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and the Zaporozhye station.

“The actions of our armed forces in no way harm nuclear security in Ukraine,” Vishnevetsky was quoted as saying by TASS.

The diplomat noted that the purpose of the protection of these facilities by the Russian military was to prevent their use by nationalist Ukrainian formations and foreign mercenaries to organize nuclear provocations.

Earlier, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi said that the IAEA had agreed with Russia and Ukraine on a mechanism to ensure the safety of Ukrainian nuclear facilities.

The Permanent Mission of Russia to the UN warned about the continued risks of a nuclear provocation at Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
