Virologist Niklas Arnberg on the spread of infection this autumn: Tough burden on healthcare

Autumn and winter bring with it an increased spread of infection, not only in terms of covid-19, but also other viruses.

Virologist Niklas Arnberg believes that, among other things, RS, winter sickness and flu will wreak havoc.

- The spread of infection will increase a lot when the cold starts to come.

Now we will see that those viral infections will return, says Arnberg.

In previous winters with restrictions, people have been good at keeping their distance, which has reduced the spread of other viruses as well.

Healthcare, which has had a tough summer behind it, risks finding it tiring.

- Unfortunately, it will burden the healthcare system a lot.

Do you think restrictions should be reintroduced?

- I do not rule out that the restrictions will be reintroduced.

But I hope, and there is reason to believe, that we have the worst behind us and that we will not have to resort to restrictions again.
